LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Old Louisville staple is expanding.

The Filson Historical Society announced Thursday the completion of $12 million worth of renovations and expansion.

It includes upgrades to the 1905 Ferguson mansion as well as a brand new 20,000-square-foot history center on Fourth Street.

The new center includes event space, museum and a preservation center.

"This has been a great historical preservation neighborhood to be a part of, and we're excited to be able to expand right in this important part of our community," said Sandy Wilson with the Filson Historical Society.

The Filson is hosting an open house from 1-6 p.m. Saturday.
