LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville-based nonprofit organization has donated more than 230,000 meals toward disaster relief efforts in Haiti, in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

According to a news release, Louisville-based Love the Hungry is providing the meals, which are packaged by local volunteers and "contain a specially formulated mix of ingredients designed to alleviate and reverse the effects of malnutrition in young children."

Supplies Over Seas is assisting with the delivery of the meals.

"Love the Hungry has a long history of supporting nutrition programs in Haiti," said Dale Oelker, executive director of Love the Hungry, according to a news release. "And we're grateful to be able to respond during this time of great need. The Nutri-Plenty meals will provide nourishment and hope to many children and families."
