Churchill Downs celebrates Halloween with 'Trick or Treat at the Track'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Halloween came a bit early at Churchill Downs Sunday.

Thousands of children headed to the twin spires for the annual 'Trick or Treat at the Track.'

Organizers say they were prepared to hand out nearly 50,000 treats.

And the first 5,000 people through the gates received a 2017 Churchill Downs Calendar.

Children in costume also received free admission to the Kentucky Derby Museum.

"It's a good time, we're not done yet. Like I said, more of a crowd than I expected but it was a good time," said Shaun Clemons, who brought his family to the event.

Sunday was also the first day of Churchill Downs' annual 21-day fall meet.

It's devoted to hopeful two-year-old horses with big Kentucky Derby dreams.
