LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A student at the Academy @ Shawnee was arrested and charged with assaulting a staff member during a fight Monday morning.

Keevan Taylor, 18, was charged with third-degree assault on a school employee or volunteer.

According to an arrest report, police were called to the fight shortly before 10:30 a.m. at the school. When police arrived, a JCPS school resource officer said that, as he was trying to break up the fight, Taylor grabbed his shirt and threw him to the ground.

Taylor allegedly told police that a family member was involved in the fight, and he was trying to get involved as well.

Taylor is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.

Jennifer Brislin, a spokeswoman with Jefferson County Public Schools, says two other students were also involved in the altercation. One of them was charged with assault, but the student's name is not being released because she is a juvenile.

Brislin says a school security guard and a female student sustained minor injuries in the altercation, which Brislin said started over a social media post that was posted over the weekend.

All three students are also being disciplined according to the district's code of conduct.
