LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group of seventh and eighth grade students from Westport Middle School's electric orchestra created a video of themselves performing Michael Jackson’s classic “Thriller” music video.

Members of the Westport Middle School Rock N’ Warhawks performed the piece, which was choreographed and produced by school's director of orchestras Cory Zilisch. It features them dancing and playing a variety of electric instruments.

“I strive to be innovative in creating meaningful musical experiences for my students,” Zilisch said. “My goal is to create a lifelong appreciation of music, and our electric orchestra is just one more way to inspire students.”

As a member of the Rock N’ Warhawks, students get to explore improvisation and modern music techniques. The students also learn how to operate an electronic sound system.

The orchestra has even had the opportunity to perform with Grammy-winning electric violinist Mark Wood, a founding member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
