LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 10-year-old Louisville boy hit by an SUV waiting for the bus returned to school Tuesday morning.

Jaconiah Fields is recovering from a broken leg and used crutches to walk into Dixie Elementary.

His teacher and principal greeted him and his aunt. "I've been looking forward to it all week. The last couple days, he's been so ready to go back to school. He went to the doctor yesterday and he said, 'Yes, I can go back to school. I don't have to have surgery.' I told him that 'we are so ready for you to go back,'" said Fields' aunt Tamika Mayes.

His 9-year-old sister Vanessa Leveros and 8-year old Phillip Neal III were also hit by an SUV on October 20.

The driver of the SUV drove onto a sidewalk to avoid running into the back of a school bus as it stopped to pick up the children.

The children were taken to Kosair Children's Hospital. Family members say Vanessa is still recovering in the hospital.

Phillip is recovering from a shattered leg and internal injuries, and has already returned to school.
