CORYDON, Ind. (WDRB) -- A suspect in the case of a southern Indiana double murder from 2013 pleaded guilty on Wednesday.

“Today Mr. Schuler admitted to the intentional murder of Asenath Arnold, as well as taking part in the felony murder of Gary Henderson,” said Harrison County prosecutor Otto Schalk following Wednesday morning’s proceedings.

Kevin Schuler admitted on Wednesday to killing “Senie” Arnold and Henderson in their Harrison County home in August of 2013 during a robbery.

“This is certainly up there as cases you won't forget as a prosecutor,” Schalk said.

Court documents say the pair entered the home with the “intention of stealing items” such as guns, money and pills. Those documents went on to say that Henderson was stabbed 23 times.

A co-defendant in the case, Austin Scott, pleaded guilty to murder charges in September. Scott originally took a plea deal, but in January changed his mind, saying he was pressured. He was set to go to trial with the death penalty on the table. He was officially sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

“I know that the state has said all along that they need to die in prison, one way or another,” Schalk said.

Schuler has not yet been sentenced, but Schalk says he intends to seek life in prison without the possibility of parole.

“That’s been the state's intention from the very get-go is to not have Austin Scott or Mr. Schuler to not take a breath of fresh air as free men,” Schalk said.

Schuler was scheduled to go to trial in January with the possibility of the death penalty.Schalk said he does not believe Schuler will change his plea.

Schuler is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 30.
