GE Appliances, union continue contract talks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- GE Appliances and the union representing about 4,000 hourly workers at Louisville Appliance Park continue to negotiate a new labor contract.

A temporary agreement that had been set to expire Sunday was extended for the second time, representatives of both sides said Monday. Neither side would say how long the temporary agreement was extended.

"Negotiations are progressing," GE Appliances spokeswoman Kim Freeman said. She declined to elaborate.

Dana Crittendon, president of IUE-CWA Local 83-761, confirmed in a text message that the talks continue, but he did not immediately return a call Monday.
