LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for injuring at least two people in a series of shootings in Oldham County Tuesday night.

According to an arrest report, 35-year-old Norman Dick IV, of Goshen, was taken into custody overnight for his alleged involvement in three shootings.

Police say the shots were fired from inside a red or maroon passenger car. In all cases, the victims reported that the car began tailing them before the shots were fired at their cars.

"Completely unusual for Oldham County," said Sgt. James Brown with the Oldham County Police.

"They said the vehicle came up behind them, tailgating them and after that the next thing they knew, shots had been fired at the vehicle,” added Sgt. Brown.

Police say the first shooting took place near the intersection of Hwy. 53 and Hwy. 22, near a Marathon gas station in Ballardsville. No one was injured at that scene.

The second incident took place on KY 393, near I-71 north. Police say two people were shot in a car at that location. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were forced to block off a portion KY 393 Tuesday night to gather forensic evidence.

The third incident took place on I-71 South near the line between Oldham County and Jefferson County. No one was injured at that location.

According to the arrest report, police recorded a phone conversation in which Dick admitted to shooting people in Oldham County -- and to an incident in Jefferson County, in which he shot at people near the corner of Westport Road and Hurstbourne Lane.

Dick was arrested just after 2:30 a.m. on E. Market Street in Louisville Wednesday and charged with five counts of attempted murder, according to a news release. Police say he was arrested at P.T.s Showclub, an area strip club. He is currently being held in the Oldham County Detention Center.

On Wednesday afternoon, Dick spoke with WDRB's Katrina Helmer, denying the allegations against him.

"I don't shoot people," he said. I'm a good law-abiding citizen."

"These allegations are so preliminary at this moment," he added.

Dick says that when he was arrested, he was at the strip club, having dinner with his brother -- and that he was shocked when two officers approached him and arrested him.

"Do you have any idea how they're making that connection to you?" WDRB's Katrina Helmer asked.

"Katrina, I'm not a killer," Dick replied. "You know, what you see is kind of what you get here. I'm beast in the streets, I don't need weapons, though."

Dick says he's not responsible -- and believes the shooter is still out there.

"I hope they get him," he said, adding a moment later that, "I want to be free, and I want all the bad tranquility to leave our green earth."

He also had strong words for the officer who arrested him.

"He better watch himself, I'll tell you that," Dick warned. "I'd have barked at him. He knows the dog is coming."

Any possible witnesses or other persons with information regarding these shootings are encouraged to notify the Oldham County Police Department.
