JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- It's not even Thanksgiving yet, but people in downtown Jeffersonville say it's not too early to start your holiday shopping now.

Twenty-five different stores, restaurants, art studios and other small businesses on Spring Street and around downtown Jeffersonville will have sales, specials and drawings for free giveaways. The event called the Holiday Open House is from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m on Thursday, Nov. 10.

"There's a lot to offer," owner of Lavender Hill, Carolyn Minutillo said. "Everyone pretty much opens their doors for the evening and encourages people to shop and [to get] to know them and get their holiday shopping early and buying local."

Lavender Hill is holding a drawing for free flowers for a year and there will be a book signing by local author, Rita Ann Fleming. She will be signing her new children's book called "Did Grandpa's Dog Pass Gas?"

At the Red Yeti Restaurant and Brew Pub, they say the second week of November is not too early to start shopping.

"Ma'am, no. I am the proud father of three wonderful sons and it's never too early to find the perfect thing for them and my family. You can never start too early," Red Yeti manager, Robert Baker said.

During the open house, the restaurant will debut its new seasonal beer.

"I have a Christmas ale," Baker said.

The Red Yeti will be one of many restaurants offering samples to taste and selling gift cards.

The manager at the Red Yeti says he's expecting hundreds of people to turn out.
