Suspect turns himself in after shooting in Shively

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shively Police are investigating after a shooting Thursday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Josh Myers of the Shively Police Department, it happened at around 3 p.m. in the 2600 block of Lomond Drive, near Addison Lane. Myers says a woman was shot in the upper torso. She was taken via ambulance to University Hospital, where police say she is expected to recover.

Derek L. Graves, 36, turned himself in Thursday evening. He's charged with 1st degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Three schools, Crums Lane Elementary School, Schaffner Elementary School and Butler High School, were briefly placed on heightened security or lockdowns during the investigation.
