LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A pedestrian hit by an SUV while crossing West Broadway last Friday has died.

According to Louisville Metro Police, it happened just before 6:30 a.m. as two people were crossing the street after leaving the McDonald's at the corner of S. Second Street and West Broadway. Police say they were crossing the street at an angle, and were not in a crosswalk when the man was hit.

The SUV did not stop, but police say the female driver later contacted them and was interviewed.

Although police initially reported that the man's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, word came down from police on Thursday afternoon that the man had died.

Police say the LMPD Traffic Unit has turned the findings of its investigation over to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office for review to determine if any charges should be filed in connection with the incident.
