LEXINGTON, KY. (WDRB) – When asked about Stephen F. Austin, sophomore guard Isaiah Briscoe admitted Thursday, he does not know much.
No disrespect to the Lumberjacks of course, it’s just that at this point in the year, the Wildcats' main priority is still figuring out who they are.
“When teams have the same guy back for two, three or four years, you have an idea on what that team looks like and you have an idea on what we’re going to play like,” said John Calipari who enters his eighth year at Kentucky. “Here it’s totally different.”
Actually, it’s more of the same for Calipari who has made a living creating new super teams each year as the previous class moves on to the NBA. This year’s group figures to be no different. There’s talent. There’s potential. But there is still a lot of work to be done.
“This team is a fast team. We should be a great defensive team but we aren’t right now. We should be a great shot-blocking team. We aren’t right now.
What they are is ready to get the season started. They will do so at 7pm Friday at Rupp Arena.
