LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — I’m not a gambler, but it’s always good to have a friend in Las Vegas.

Why? To collect insight and information in college football, college basketball, horse racing, anything of interest to local sports fans.

I asked Brian Edwards, a senior handicapper at VegasInsiders.com, if a betting line was available for the football game Kentucky and Louisville will play in Papa John’s Cardinals Stadium on Nov. 26.

Not officially.

But Edwards said that if the rivals were playing Saturday he would make the Cardinals a 26-point favorite. (Sound high? Low? For comparison, Jeff Sagarin’s predictor computer rankings favor U of L by 26.8 while playing at home against the Wildcats.)

Here is the rest of the text of his note to me:

“There's no line for UK-U of L in Sportsbook.ag's Games of the Year this week. However, the offshore shop does have Louisville at -10.5  for a trip to Houston (next Thursday).

“Also, Sportsbook has these odds for U of L for potential CFP match-ups; U of L +7.5 vs. Bama, +1.5 vs. Ohio St., pick 'em vs. Clemson and -1.5 vs. Washington.

“Also, U of L has 16/1 odds to win CFP, 6th-shortest odds w/ Ohio St. being the 1-loss team w/ shorter odds. Lamar Jackson 1/20 odds to win Heisman (must risk $2,000 to win $100).”

As for the games that will actually be played this weekend, here are the numbers:

Louisville is favored by 35 against Wake Forest in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium Saturday night.

Kentucky is a 14-point road underdog against Tennessee.

Indiana is a 7-point home underdog against Penn State.

Western Kentucky is is the pick by 28 1/2 over North Texas on Senior Night in Bowling Green.
