Kentucky Reptile Expo held in Shepherdsville

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Imagine a flea market where you can buy, sell and trade reptiles.

"We got everything from snakes, turtles, frogs … geckos. All the feeding supplies you need for them. All the caging supplies you need for them," John Chausmer said.

The Kentucky Reptile Expo made its way to Shepherdsville Saturday.

The expo is held every month in a different city in Kentucky, Ohio, or Indiana.

It features captive bred reptiles and supplies from top breeders across the country.

"The average household has one or two dogs. The average household with reptiles has seven to eight. It's the biggest growing thing in the pet industry now. And I tell people all the time, the difference between scary and beautiful is knowledge," Chausmer said.

At the expo, organizers say the animals and products are offered at a wholesale price.

They say that means you could pay up to 50 percent less than at a pet store.
