Local group passes out winter supplies to those in need

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group of friends hit the streets to show what makes Louisville a Compassionate City.

"The months are getting cold so we just decided to come together, put together blankets, gloves, hats, whatever we can do to keep them warm on the streets," Kisha Crume said.

Crume and about a dozen of her friends walked downtown Louisville Sunday, carrying nearly 50 bags full of winter supplies.

They gave out gloves, blankets, scarves, and more to people living on the streets.

She says she and her friends pay for the items themselves, as a way to give back.

"I got a good group of ladies that help out. It just feels great to be able to bless somebody because we're all blessed. So I just feel like giving back is something that we all love to do," Crume said.

It doesn't stop at winter supplies.

The group says they've done this before with school supplies too.

Their goal? To do this as often as possible.
