LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Down four with less than five minutes to go in the first half against Canisius, the Kentucky Wildcats needed someone to step up.
Isaiah Briscoe was up for the challenge.
The sophomore guard led the Wildcats on a 17-4 to close the half. They would go on to win 93-69.
“Isaiah was the man,” said John Calipari, whose team moved to 2-0 this year. “He willed us when we were dying, and said, ‘look, I’m not settling.”
Briscoe finished the game, tied for a team high with 21 points. He shot a very efficient 9-13 from the floor.
Freshman guard De'Aaron Fox also scored 21 for Kentucky, who moved to 2 and 0 on the season after playing their second game in three nights.
The second ranked Wildcats are back to it Tuesday against number 12 Michigan State in New York City.
