LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — I’d better make certain I have this straight:

This is the poll that starts with Mike Krzyzewski, not Nick Saban.

This is the poll that usually includes three local teams, not simply one.

This is the poll where there are typically 20-to-30 candidates for the final 7-10 spots -- and I can expect angry e-mails from fans of most of them.

Without further delay, I present my ballot in the Associated Press college basketball Top 25 poll after the first weekend of play. (I know some are waiting on UCLA, which was ranked 16th in the pre-season poll. Not me. I was not dazzled with the Bruins before they fell behind mighty Cal State-Northridge at halftime Sunday night.)

1. Duke (2-0) — The Blue Devils averaged 95 points in their first two games without several of their top young players.

2. Villanova (1-0) — The Wildcats didn’t get special treatment for winning the national championship. They’re playing at Purdue Monday night in the Gavitt Games.

3. North Carolina (2-0) — I’m already looking forward to watching Roy Williams bring the Tar Heels to Bloomington at the end of the month.

4. Oregon (1-0) — Dana Altman just got a contract extension. Maybe he can fix the Ducks’ floundering football program, too.

5. Wisconsin (1-0) — Another Gavitt Games bonus takes the Badgers to Creighton Tuesday.

6. Kentucky (2-0) — The Wildcats head to New York City where I expect them to handle an undersized Michigan State team without much fretting.

7. Virginia (1-0) — What’s new? The Cavaliers held UNC-Greensboro to 51 points.

8. Louisville (1-0) — How good is William & Mary? Better than Evansville, I hope.

9. Indiana (1-0) — The Hoosiers 2016 trip to Honolulu was considerably more pleasant than their 2015 trip to Maui.

10. Kansas (0-1) — The Jayhawks will be 0-2 after they play Duke in New York City Tuesday.

11. Arizona (1-0) — Yes, the Wildcats beat Michigan State. No, I wasn’t extremely dazzled.

12. Purdue (1-0) — Caleb Swanigan won’t average 23 and 20 this season but he is the safest bet to average a double-double.

13. Gonzaga (1-0) — An early test for the Zags with San Diego State Monday night.

14. Xavier (1-0) — Slow the Final Four hype on the X-men after a 3-point win over Lehigh.

15. West Virginia (1-0) — We won’t know much about the Mountaineers until they play Virginia Dec. 3.

16. St. Mary’s (1-0) — A lot of smart people really like Randy Bennett’s team.

17. Florida (2-0) — A lot of smart people really wonder why I’m voting the Gators this high.

18. Texas (1-0) — The Longhorns didn’t have all their pieces and struggled in their opener.

19. Michigan State (0-1) — I’ve tried to warn people the Spartans don’t have a post player and Tom Izzo will need time to work this out.

20. San Diego State (1-0) — Let’s see what the Aztecs do at Gonzaga Monday.

21. Cincinnati (1-0) — Mick Cronin doesn’t have a Kenyon Martin or Sean Kilpatrick but he gets his guys to play together.

22. Syracuse (1-0) — We’ll find out what Jim Boeheim has when the Orange visit Wisconsin in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

23. Rhode Island (1-0) — Rhode Island-Cincinnati will be a nice game to watch Saturday.

24. Clemson (1-0) — The Tigers celebrated their return to their campus arena by handling Georgia.

25. Creighton (1-0) — The BlueJays opened their season by defeating UMKC. No word if Andre McGee attended.
