Kentucky boxing and wrestling body alters bylaws in hopes of attracting marquee events

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky leaders say they've disqualified the rules that kept big-time combat sports out for the state.

The governor knocked out the old Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority last spring. But now, the new regulative body has paired down state bylaws in hopes of enticing marquee events.

Companies like the WWE stopped running television and pay per views in Kentucky six years ago, due in part to blood restrictions.

Officials say that's one of about five major regulations eliminated or changed.

The Kentucky legislature will have the final say next year.
