LMPD forum focuses on social media, building bridges in community

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD is scrambling to solve the city's 100th homicide through good police work and building bridges.

The department held it's third forum on 21st Century Policing at the Newburg Community Center on Monday night.

The focus was on how to use social media and technology to make our city safer. But Chief Steve Conrad warned body cameras and drones, while helpful, can't replace people.

"We're going to continue to do what we can to try to build bridges in this community, to reach out to people, to get people involved," he said. "But it's going to take the entire community working together if we ever want to see Louisville become safer."

LMPD also launched a free app Monday to make reporting crimes easier.
