LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The former head of the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet, Tim Longmeyer, is facing fines in addition to his prison sentence.

Longmeyer has to pay a $5,000 fine after settling 45 counts of ethics violations. He agreed to pay $208,000 in civil penalties, but he will offset the amount as part of his 70-month federal prison sentence.

Longmeyer used his position as head of Kentucky's Personnel Cabinet to steer contracts to a public relations firm.

He is scheduled to begin serving his prison sentence on Jan. 5, 2017.
