LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Radcliff Police say they've arrested a man after the body of a woman was found in his home.

According to an arrest report, officers were called to the Walmart at 1165 Walmart Way in Radcliff, Kentucky, Monday night, after someone reported that a man had been shoplifting at that location.

Police say 30-year-old Paul Ellefritz Jr. stole 22 pounds -- about $28.00 worth -- of dog food.

According to the arrest report, Ellefritz Jr. was known to be the roommate of Kimberly Mayberger, a woman who had been missing. Ellefritz Jr. had been interviewed by police in connection with the case the day before, on Sunday.

When police visited the home of Ellefritz Jr. and Mayberger, they allegedly found the body of a Mayberger. The woman had suffered several stab wounds.

Ellefritz Jr. was arrested and charged with murder.  He is also charged with shoplifting, as well attempted escape. The latter charge stems from the allegation that Ellefritz Jr. tried to walk out of the jail as he was being booked.

"It hurts all of our officers, it hurts our community," said Radcliff Police chief Jeff Cross. "Nobody wants to see this and when does it happen we do the best we can to resolve this and bring those to justice who commit these crimes."

He is currently being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.
