LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man accused of putting his roommate's body in a box and dumping it in the woods has pleaded guilty.

Derek Roark was set to go on trial Tuesday. Police say Roark, 40, did not call for help when his roommate overdosed on heroin. Instead, Roark allegedly put his roommate's body into a wooden box and dumped it in southern Jefferson County.

Roark turned himself in to police days later.

On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. Roark could be sentenced to five years in prison.
