Girl Scouts partner with Ky. Science Center to inspire girls to study math, science
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Teaming up to get more girls interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana and the Kentucky Science Center are expanding their partnership. Officials say they will provide more hands-on activities for girls along with pairing them up with STEM mentors.
They say the programming will provide great life lessons to participants.
"Let's inspire creativity, innovation and problem solving," said Kentucky Science Center Executive Director Jo Haas. "You could call those science skills, or you could just call them life skills."
Officials say they hope the partnership will encourage more girls to go into the STEM career field.
While women make up almost 60 percent of the workforce, they make up only 24 percent of the workforce in the STEM industry.
