Residents weigh in on proposed plans to widen southwest Louisville roadway

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Residents get their first look at plans to widen a busy southwest Louisville roadway.

The city held a public forum at Doss High School Tuesday night.

Dozens of neighbors checked out the preliminary plans and weighed in on ways to ease congestion on St. Andrews Church Road.

Planners propose widening the road from two to three lanes in each direction in order to add a turning lane.

"That continuous center turn lane will allow for better access and then free flow for the other lanes of traffic," Andrea Clifford, with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, said.

The project is still years away.
