LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The St. Xavier Tigers (9-3) are aiming for their first 10-win season since 2010 when they host the Male Bulldogs (10-2) in the third round of the KHSAA Football playoffs Friday night. It’s a rematch of a regular season game that St. X won 31-21 at Male in October. Tigers head coach Will Wolford says that game matters little in the playoffs.
“At this time of the year, it’s win and you go home. They’re going to bring their best game. They’re a very good team and they’re very well coached,” Wolford said.
St. X has won its first two playoff games by an average of 32 points. Male handled Daviess County in the post-season opener but had to hold off PRP 27-24 to make it to Friday’s game.
“We haven't been executing as well in the red zone the last couple of games,” said Male head coach Chris Wolfe. “I think we were 2 for 5 in the red zone against PRP, so when you get in the red zone against these guys you gotta score and so hopefully we'll do better this week.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm Friday night at St. Xavier High School.
