LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One U.S. designer wins a major award for creating a bike helmet that folds up.
Isis Shiffer's "EcoHelmet" won this year's James Dyson Award. The folding helmet is made from recyclable paper material, and is surprisingly sturdy.
A honeycomb structure helps spread the impact of a crash around a cyclist's entire head, rather than just one place.
The helmet costs about $5 so Shiffer says it's perfect for people who use bike-sharing schemes and don't always carry a helmet.
