Louisville man arrested on dozens of child pornography charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man on dozens of child pornography charges.

According to an arrest report, the arrest came as a result of an undercover investigation conducted by the LMPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.  

Police say they executed a search warrant at the home of 52-year-old Robert Donald Newton on Shenandoah Drive, near Accomack Drive. According to the arrest report, Newton admitted to intentionally searching for and downloading files containing child pornography.

Newton was arrested and charged with 20 counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. 

On Friday morning, he appeared before a judge and a plea of "not guilty" was entered on his behalf. He was ordered to have no contact with minors and no access to the Internet.

He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
