Owner of Jeff Ruby's supplying LMPD First Division officers with free turkeys
Officers in LMPD's First Division officers got a special delivery on Friday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officers in LMPD's First Division officers got a special delivery on Friday.
The owner of Jeff Ruby's is giving free turkeys to every police officer in LMPD's First Division, which covers Louisville's Portland neighborhood.
"This is such a great expression of gratitude," said LMPD Officer Amanda Lunte. "I mean, a free turkey and not only is it something that makes us feel good but it's also something that we can share with our families too."
Jeff Ruby and his staff made the special deliveries on Friday. Ruby's restaurant is in the First Division and this is his way of saying thank you to the police.
The officers can obviously buy their own turkeys but say they appreciate the kindness and support from the people they serve and protect.
"It does make you feel good 'cause this is who we do this job for -- is the people, is the community," said Lunte. "It is wonderful when we get thanked like that and this expression from Jeff Ruby is just kind of over the top for us."
This is an annual giveaway for Jeff Ruby. In fact, this year, he has already handed out turkeys to police officers in Cincinnati and Nashville where he also owns restaurants.
