LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than 30 people from 22 countries became American citizens Friday morning.

The naturalization ceremony was held at U of L's Brandeis School of Law. After the new citizens took their oath, U.S. District Judge David Hale encouraged them to embrace the privileges of being a U.S. citizen as well as the responsibilities that come with it.

"Do your civic duty," Hale said. "Vote. Serve on juries. Respond to the call of assistance. Help your neighbor embrace your new country."

The new citizens come from countries including Somalia, Cuba, Cambodia and Mexico.
