LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – As far as becoming bowl eligible, the Indiana Hoosiers are now down to their final chance.
The Hoosiers suffered a second straight defeat, losing Saturday to 3rd ranked Michigan 20-10. IU (5-6, 3-5 Big Ten) needs to beat Purdue at home in their finale next week to earn consecutive bowl bids for the first time since 1990 and 1991.
Indiana led 10-6 in Ann Arbor but in the third quarter, senior running back De’Veon Smith took over for the Wolverines, scoring two big touchdowns that gave Michigan the lead for good. Smith finished with a career high 158 yards in the win.
IU junior running back Devine Redding was held to 50 yards in defeat.
