LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD officers helped hand out boxes of food Monday morning as part of the Lord's kitchen annual Thanksgiving Meal Give-Away.

The boxes are filled with turkeys, chickens, ham and other traditional holiday sides.

People receiving the holiday meals say they're grateful for the opportunity.

"This is great," said one grateful recipient. "You can't this all the time. The Thanksgiving turkeys and the holiday cheer. This is a blessing."

The Lord's Kitchen hopes to feed about 600 families for Thanksgiving and serves about eight million meals a year through its feeding program.
