LMPD narcotics officers team up with Ky. Harvest to deliver hundreds of meals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD narcotics detectives took a break from serving warrants Monday to serve meals to people in need.
The detectives teamed up with Kentucky Harvest to deliver canned goods and 150 turkeys to the Plymouth Community Renewal Center on South 15th Street.
The center started out the morning with 600 turkeys, and more being delivered every hour.
By mid-morning several hundred people had been given free Thanksgiving meals, and volunteers expected that number to top 1,000.
"We are uplifting fallen and falling humanity," said volunteer Khalid Ashanti. "We are here doing a service, dedication to the community and the Creator, giving back."
The turkey giveaway was first-come-first serve.
