Local chef shares recipe for stuffed turkey

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Cooking the turkey can be one of the most intimidating parts of cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

Kroger Chef Paul Dowell shares a recipe for stuffed turkey that is sure to impress.

Stuffed Turkey

1 (12 pound) Fresh Turkey
1 pkg.  Pepperidge Farms Herb Stuffing
1 qrt. Simple Truth Chicken Stock
1 stick Unsalted Butter
1 pkg. Butternut & Apple Roast Mix for Produce
½ Tbl. Olive Oil

Preheat the oven to 325°.
Bring stock & butter to a boil in medium stock pot.
Pour over stuffing.
Roast veg in oven until browned & mix into stuffing.
Stuffing Tips:
    Prepare stuffing with only cooked ingredients (sautéed veg, cooked meats, pasteurized eggs).
    Stuff turkey right before roasting, not night before.
    Use about ½-3/4 cup of stuffing per pound of turkey.
    Do not pack stuffing tight.
    Stuffing should read 165° in center.
Roast Turkey 20 minutes per pound & test with bi read thermometer.
