LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several groups are making sure no one in the Louisville area goes hungry this Thanksgiving.

Feed the City handed out turkeys with all the trimmings on Tuesday morning to 300 families in need.

Those who need help had to sign up in advance for the turkey food box giveaway. They picked up turkeys, potatoes, bread and everything they'll need to fix their meal.

It's the 15th year for the event, and volunteers see a disturbing trend.

"The need is increasing sad to say. It's a bittersweet situation. You see the ones you can help, but there are a lot more who probably need help this time of year," said Larry D. Coleman, a spokesperson for Feed the City.

Feed the City feeds families lunch six days a week, and is always looking for volunteers to help serve.
