LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman who saw three cars hit a child and called 911 is speaking about what she witnessed.

LMPD says the child ran out in front of traffic on Taylor Boulevard and Bicknell Avenue on Monday night.

Frances Linehan says she saw the crash from her front porch.

“I had just got home from work. There was two boys walking down the street. They darted in front of cars ... one of them was struck," Linehan said. "The other one made it all the way across the street."

Two drivers stopped, but Linehan says the driver of a yellow Volkswagen took off.

“When he hit the child, the child went airborn, landed on the other side of the street directly behind us where he was pinned underneath of another vehicle,” Linehan said.

John Starkey was driving by the area. He stopped and helped a group lift the car off the child.

“It started out, me and another guy tried to move it by ourselves," Starkey said. "I mean, we moved it a little bit, but not as much as we needed. It took several of us to move that car."

Linehan is hoping the driver of the yellow Volkswagen will turn themselves in.

“I don’t know why anyone would have the heart to leave the crime scene at all,” Linehan said.

If you have any information about the yellow car, call the tip line at 574-LMPD.
