Louisville Metro Police arrest man accused of robbing several banks
According to the arrest report, the suspect allegedly robbed several banks between 2013 and 2016.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man authorities say robbed several area banks.
Johnnie Day, 51, was arrested on Tuesday.
According to an arrest report, Day allegedly robbed several banks between 2013 and 2016.
Police say he robbed the following banks:
PNC Bank at 5500 Preston Highway on July 26, 2013
Your Community Bank at 11810 Interchange Drive on Jan. 3, 2015
Stock Yards Bank at 5026 Mud Lane on Nov. 7, 2016
Fifth Third Bank at 8003 Preston Highway on Nov. 19, 2016
BB&T Bank at 401 West Main Street on Nov. 21, 2016
Police say that in each of the alleged robberies, Day entered the bank and presented a note demanding money and was given bank cash.
Officials say several of the robberies were captured on surveillance video.
According to authorities, a witness followed Day and got a description of his vehicle and license plate number as he was fleeing from the BB&T Bank on Nov. 21.
Investigators were able to locate Day on Nov. 22. Police say a sweatshirt that was worn during the Nov. 21 robbery was in plain sight in the front seat of Day's vehicle.
Police say Day, "was also clearly the person depicted in the surveillance video."
Day is charged with five counts of second-degree robbery.
