LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has charged a man with attempted murder after authorities say he shot a man in the back with a stolen gun.

According to a post on the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, it happened on Thanksgiving Day, just after midnight. Authorities say they were dispatched to the 6500 block of Balk Knob Road, in Frankfort, Kentucky, on a report that a man had been accidentally shot.

When the Franklin County Sheriff's Office arrived, they found that the victim had been shot in the back. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the perpetrator, 60-year-old Ernest Hensley, had shot the victim with a stolen gun.

Both Hensley and the victim were drunk at the time, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Hensley was arrested and charged with attempted murder, first degree assault and receipt of stolen property. He is currently being held in the Franklin County Detention Center.
