Local e-commerce companies gearing up for Cyber Monday
If you missed the Black Friday bargains, there is still time to get deals online.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If you missed the Black Friday bargains, there is still time to get deals online.
The additional orders mean more business for shipping and processing companies in the Louisville area.
Radial Inc. is an e-commerce fulfillment company that works for many major brands.
One warehouse near Louisville shipping bathroom products handles about 4,000 packages per hour.
While Cyber Monday is still the biggest day for sales, the company says more Black Friday deals are going online.
Radial Inc. is constantly preparing for the additional orders.
“We start in January planning for the next holiday season so there’s a lot of effort, a lot of energy, goes into becoming as efficient as possible,” said Brad Kennedy, Louisville site director.
The location allows for easy access to many parts of the country and the proximity to the UPS world shipping hub allows for faster delivery times.
The popularity of the area has led to more online companies setting up operations and that can make finding workers more competitive. Radial Inc. offers special incentives, like additional holiday pay, to attract workers.
“We’ve hired 6,000 new jobs since September. Of those jobs, we’ll convert many of those into full-time positions that will carry us because every year we’re growing,” Kennedy said.
Crews are working around the clock to get the holiday orders filled. Thanksgiving Day does not stop shipping and Christmas Day does not mark the end of the rush.
“That week between Christmas and New Year’s is still a very important part of the online business as people cash in gift cards, start making exchanges,” Kennedy said.
The company expects to see record shipments this year with the growing popularity of online shopping.
