BRANDENBURG, Ky. (WDRB) -- A controversial Confederate monument that used to stand near U of L's campus will arrive in its new home on Monday.

Brandenburg Mayor Ronnie Joyner said the first truck is scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m. Monday.

The statue will become part of a historic Civil War site in Brandenburg.

Crews began taking the monument apart last weekend. The monument then began the 44-mile trip to Brandenburg.

The time capsule that was inside the monument will be kept by the Filson Historical Society.
