LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo is trying to brighten some children's lives by giving them animals: the stuffed kind.

On Wednesday, zoo employees unloaded 150 stuffed animals donated to Kosair Charities. The toys will be distributed to children this weekend at the annual Kosair Kids holiday party.

This brings the zoo's total donation for the year to 1,000 animals.

"Guests and members and staff can come into our gift shop and purchase a $38 plush animal for $17.99," said Kyle Shepherd, spokeswoman for the Louisville Zoo. "They often get a gift for themselves and for the Kosair charity program.

Children will also get treats and a set of books.

The holiday party is invitation-only and includes children from many of the more than 100 pediatric agencies Kosair Charities supports.
