LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- 'Tis the season to shop, and the city of Louisville is encouraging you to do so at local businesses.
Mayor Greg Fischer helped launch a new social media campaign Wednesday to entice shoppers.
Called the ABC's of Buying Local, different business groups will be featured through the month of December.
On Wednesday, local chocolate shops, like Cellar Door Chocolates on South Fourth Street, are featured.
"When you shop local, 55 percent of that local dollar stays in the local area and continues to recirculate," Mayor Fischer said. "Of course, these are our local entrepreneurs as well. We love all of our retailers, but we want to have the authenticity of our city that comes from somebody having a startup idea."
You can follow Louisville Forward on Twitter and Instagram to learn each day's category. And use the hashtag #BuyLocalLou to share your favorite local gift-giving ideas on social media.
