LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Samantha Tolley says like most little brothers, Stephan Faulkner loved to torment her.

But he was always there when she needed him, until now, when she needs him the most.

Faulkner, 19, was shot and killed on his front porch during a drive-by two weeks ago.

"Somebody took the time out of their day to take him from me," Tolley said.

His death came just months after another deadly drive-by shooting of his friend, Troyvonte Hurt. The 14-year-old was gunned down in the Smoketown neighborhood back in August.

But her family's nightmare wasn't over. Three days after the shooting, following a vigil for Faulkner, someone opened fire on their Ratcliffe Avenue home, spraying it with more than a dozen bullets and narrowly missing a 6-year-old girl.

"My mom called me. I was on the highway, and she said, 'come back, they shooting again,'" Tolley said. "She was in Stephan's bed actually, and it was like, she's only 6 ... It's scary. It's really scary."

Tolley and her family fled the home and have been in hiding, literally living out of suitcases, afraid to go home.

"I never thought that someone would come to my mom's home and take everything that she has, basically," Tolley said. "From her child to her house to her well-being."

And it's not just her mother. The 24-year-old worries they all have targets on their backs, especially her three remaining brothers.

"Somebody pulled up to me yesterday on the side of me, and I was so nervous," Tolley said. "And he was just telling me to cut my lights on."

The only thing that gets her through are her memories and this poem:

"You left us peaceful memories. Your love is still our guide … always be at our side."

That poem was part of Faulkner's obituary. The family buried him in a secret ceremony Monday.

The family believes the two shootings may be connected. If you have any information, you're asked to call 574-LMPD.
