Juice Bowl organizers say police will patrol rescheduled game Saturday

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bullets won't sideline a west Louisville Thanksgiving tradition, despite last week's fatal shootings.

Community leaders laid out plans Thursday for Saturday's rescheduled Juice Bowl. There are a few minor changes, including only one game instead of 6.

Organizers also warned that police will patrol the event, unlike years past.

Leaders maintain the 60-year-old tradition is safe, and they encourage everyone to show their support by showing up.

"We just wanted the people to know, hey, it's safe here," said Neal Robertson, President of the West Louisville Urban Coalition.

They'll also release seven balloons for each person shot and a moment of silence.

The festivities start at 3 p.m. at Shawnee Park.
