LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A comeback for rural America.

That's how Mitch McConnell describes the election of Donald Trump.

The U.S. Senate Majority Leader talked about it while giving the opening address Saturday at the Kentucky Farm Bureau's 97th annual meeting at The Galt House.

"I think this is the comeback for an open America. A particular comeback for rural America. And I have great optimism, great optimism going into 2017," McConnell said.

McConnell went on to take a jab at President Obama.

McConnell thanked Obama, saying because of him there are now more Republicans in elected offices in America at all levels than at any time in the last 100 years.
