LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kosair Charities has given a big boost to five local non-profit organizations.

The charity's Advisory Council donated a total of $200,000 to Nativity Academy, La Casita Center, Commonwealth Theatre Center, Bridge Kids International and Lifehouse Maternity Home.

The money will be used for things ranging from educating the Hispanic community to helping babies born addicted to drugs.

Bridge Kids International says it will build a community gathering place in the Limerick neighborhood to empower kids.

"Young people are essential to the solutions that are going to impact their lives," said Stacy Bailey-Ndiaye of Bridge Kids International. "And often we plan for them, do for them, and don't really engage them in change."

Kosair Charities donated more than $10 million in October to local organizations.
