One person dies after crash at Taylorsville Road and South Pope Lick Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- MetroSafe dispatchers have confirmed that one person has died after a crash involving a dump truck and a pickup truck in far eastern Jefferson County.

At this time, we do not know the identity of the victim.

It happened about 10 a.m. Wednesday on Taylorsville Road (Kentucky 155) at South Pope Lick Road in far eastern Jefferson County.

According to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell, preliminary investigation reveals that the dump truck was eastbound on Taylorsville Road and failed to observe a vehicle that was also eastbound on Taylorsville Road that was attempting to make a right turn onto South Pope Lick Road.

That's when Mitchell says the dump truck swerved to the left, into the westbound lanes, to avoid striking the vehicle in front of it and and collided with a pickup truck that was westbound on Taylorsville.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating. Police have closed Taylorsville Road on both sides of the crash. Eastbound traffic is closed at New Hopewell Road.
