LMPD detectives need witnesses to take stand in Beecher Terrace murder

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was shot and killed in front of people in broad daylight, and his killer is still on the loose.

LMPD has not made an arrest in the shooting death of 33-year-old Charles Hill back in October.

Since then, detectives have worked a lot of leads, but they still need one of those witnesses to help bring the victim's family closure.

"This has just been overwhelming," said Willetta Hill, the victim's mother.

In a city coping with a record number of homicides, everyone seems to be keeping track.

"Charles was the number 92nd homicide of this year," Hill said.

Charles Hill was shot and killed in the Beecher Terrace Housing Complex.

Willetta Hill got the call from her daughter.

"She called and said that he had been shot, and then she called back two or three minutes later and said, 'Mamma, he is gone.'"

There were lots of raw emotion from family members at the scene.

"That's my brother laying right there," shouted Charles Hill's brother from the scene.

"Someone knows what happened," Willetta Hill said.

But so far, that "someone" has has not come forward, and the killer is still on the loose.

"I think that tips help," Det. Aaaron Tinelli said. "They help put you in the right direction."

Det. Tinelli is the lead investigator in the case.

"We've knocked on every single door in this area," he said.

Det. Tinellis said until a witness comes forward, that killer will continue to be a threat.

"He is saying these people are so scared and so scared of me that I am going to bet that I can get this done, and they're not going to say a word," he said.

Willetta Hill hopes someone will come forward and stand up for a grieving mother.

"Our family is asking for closure."
