Indiana artist uses stone carvings to spread message of love

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana artist is fighting back against racist graffiti, with her art.

Sidney Bolam is a stone carver in Bloomington. After an area in the city was plastered with swastikas last month, she decided to use her art to help combat that message. So she began leaving stones with messages of love carved into them in the same areas hit by the graffiti. She hopes she can remind people there is still good in the community.

"There's problems in your community, there are things that make you feel angry or scared," Bolam said. "You've got to remember that most people really are good and most people are watching out for you."

People who find the stones are asked to keep them or give them to a friend. Bolam says she just hopes everyone will keep the random acts of kindness going.
