LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people have been arrested after a police chase Thursday morning.

According to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell, it started around 11:30 a.m. when LMPD officers from the 4th Division tried to stop a stolen 2015 Chrysler 200 on Taylor Blvd. near Beecher Street. During the stop, Mitchell says the driver put the vehicle in gear and drove away, hitting an LMPD officer in the knee.

Police pursued the driver on the Watterson Expressway, the Shawnee Expressway, Dixie Highway and several side streets before the chase ended on Matheis Avenue, just west of Dixie Highway in Shively.

The driver, a Hispanic male, and his passenger, a white female, were taken into custody. Both were taken to University Hospital with minor injuries. The officer was treated at University with minor injuries. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.

At this time, we do not know the identity of the suspects.
